Announcements

The Driver Examiner's Office will be closed during the month of September 2025. The Office will close Friday, August 29, 2025, and re-open Monday, October 6, 2025.

  • Colorado Driver's Licenses or Identification Cards may be renewed online at mydmv.colorado.gov

  • If you need to visit a Driver's License Office in person, visit dmv.colorado.gov to find the nearest open office.

Information

The Driver Examiner is a county office funded by Lincoln County. It is not a State DMV Office and offers limited services related to Driver's Licenses and Identification Cards. Appointments are suggested for:

  • Renewing a Colorado Driver's License or Identification Card

Appointments are required for:

  • Transferring an Out-of-State Driver's License or Identification Card to Colorado

  • Written Tests 

    • Standard, Motorcycle, Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

    • No written test will be performed after 3 PM

  • Drive Tests

    • Drive tests will only be performed for residents of Lincoln County.

    • Standard Drive Tests Only. No Motorcycle or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) drive tests will be performed.

    • Please ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy and that the interior is clean. The Driver Examiner may cancel drive tests without notice if the vehicle does not meet these requirements. 

A $20.00 fee will be assessed on all transactions performed for non-residents. (Lincoln County Board of County Commissioners Resolution #654) Please refer to dmv.colorado.gov/state-dmv-fees for a complete list of fees.

To be issued a Colorado Driver's License or Identification Card, you must provide proof of the following:

  • Your full legal name
  • All legal name changes
  • Identity
  • Age
  • Lawful presence in the United States
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • A certified copy of your birth certificate is required for first-time applicants or to replace a lost document. Birth certificates issued by a hospital are not acceptable.

Under the Real ID Act of 2005, all applicants for a Colorado Driver's License or Identification Card must provide two proof documents showing their residential address. The documents must show a valid physical address. Post office boxes are not acceptable. Please refer to dmv.colorado.gov/documents for a complete list of acceptable documents. Minors under the age of 21 may use their parents' proof of residential address documents if the parent is present.
